FC Goa’s head coach Manolo Marquez isn’t paying much attention to Jamshedpur FC’s position in the Indian Super League (ISL) points table. They’re getting ready to face them at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Tuesday. Jamshedpur FC is out of the race for the playoffs and will end their season with a match against Gaur FC. Their chances of winning the league shield are very slim. If Mumbai City FC continues their winning streak at home, Odisha FC could be eliminated

FC Goa coach Manolo Marquez predicts a tough match against Jamshedpur FC

He said, “In the first phase of the competition, it was difficult for us to improve the results we got in the second phase because it was very good for us.” He said, “But we couldn’t win six games in the second half, and in competitions like the ISL, if you have such a spell, you can quickly fall down in the standings.”

Marquez has enhanced the prestige of young players and encouraged them to achieve their best, but he has warned against promoting young players too quickly. He said, “When young players play 2-3 good games and everyone is talking about them, I think it’s negative.” In such cases, players need a good attitude and humility. They need good training, good food, and good sleep. I think we’re improving in these aspects, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement.

In the last two games, both teams lost. FC Goa won three times and drew twice in their last five matches, boosting their morale. On the other hand, Jamshedpur FC had a strong start in the second half of the season, but they slipped to sixth place after losing 11 points out of a possible 15 in their last five matches. Currently, Jamshedpur FC has struggled to keep a clean sheet in their eight home matches. They didn’t concede any goals against Punjab FC at their home ground in October 2023. In the current season, Jamshedpur FC has made 15.1 crosses from open play, ranking second after FC Goa (19.3). So far, both teams have played a total of 13 matches against each other
